Giving Succession for the Deed, given under

Giving succession of a deed.

  • Ownership of the land which carries a deed can be given only to the spouse or children or blood relations.

  • If you wish the land can be appointed among the children within the restrictions, contained in the deed.

  • If necessary, ownership can be given to their own husband or wife.

  • Unless the ownership can be also given to their own blood relation.

In case succession was not nominated…

  • It is your right to decide who should be nominated as your successor.

  • You can nominate anyone whether your wife, child or blood relation as a successor.

  • On the occasion of your death, happened to be prior to the nomination, the final decision will be taken by the land commissioner general.

  • Such occasion if you have both male and female children, preference should be given to the male children.

  • If you have several male children, succession will be given to the eldest son.

  • If you have only girls, succession will be given to the eldest son.

  • If you have only girls, succession will be given to the eldest daughter.

  • Law does not permit to nominate minors as successor.

  • If so you nominate you can just to the children.

  • If so don’t forget to nominate the succession of your deed today itself.

How to nominate the succession?

  • It is a trivial matter.

  • No money will be charged for this.

  • Complete three forms L.C.155, obtained from divisional secretary or D.L.C. /A.L.C. (Inter Province) and hand over.

  • That form can be attested by a notary public, Justice of peace, Registrar of land.

  • This could be easily done free of charge from the divisional secretariat.

  • That document will be registered at the land registry and one copy will be handed over to you.

  • Keep that copy safely.

Could the nomination be Cancelled?

  • Yes

  • Nominate the person

  • Whom you want and register the three new forms, then the Previous nomination will  be Cancelled.
